Party Before Closure are a duo from Surrey whose MySpace photo finds them in a car park, hoods aloft and ready to applaud their mates donutting their way around a Tesco security team near you. But bad omens and prejudice are the stuff of being confounded, and whilst the fluoro nuances of their debut EP are a lot less fresh than when Klaxons emerged - was it ten years ago now? - they're certainly not Farnham's answer to the Blackout Crew. Thank god.
With donks firmly not being put on it, The Universe is aimed squarely at floor-mashing and brain dissolution, opener Turn Up The Radio splicing a little LOTP with more down-and-dirty techno cheese, and succeeding in it's ultimate aim of making skinny fits and high tops stick to baccy-stained carpets everywhere. If ecstatic hedonism was all that PBC'ers Matt and James stood for then arguably that would be enough, but 5 Senses Of A Lost Child manages to filter back some trance-like reflectivity, whilst the show-stealing OMG This Rave chatters with 128-Bit console zen and pays due deference to the Pendulum-size gorilla lurking in the corner.
There's some glorious pseudo-intellectual discourse to be had here probably - something about the blankness of youth and the antidote of vacuum-filling hedonism and simplicity, tribalism and rythmic release, freaky dancing. Sex equals death. Or something. You won't find the secrets of the cosmos here, but PBC will keep you occupied until someone figures them out.
