Explaining Our Ratings

At the end of our review our correspondents will give the work an overall star rating. These are based on a number of subjective and objective parameters. We could explain some of them, but we aren’t going to.  To give you a flavour, in the case of an artist issuing their first release, the reviewer will probably focus on originality, impact on the genre and/or potential. Where we’re dealing with a more established artist the rating might be based on expectations, use of talent and a willingness to push their creative boundaries in comparison to other work. We’ll also add in our advice on the key tracks as we see them for you to listen to and/or download for those of you with short attention spans or limited income.
